Bristol Balloon Fiesta Press Flight July 2015 2

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta Lifts Off for 2017

Bristol will once again host Europe’s largest annual ballooning event, a spectacular free weekend for the whole family from Thursday 10th – Sunday 13th August 2017.

Now in its 39th year, the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta has long been a highlight in Britain’s event calendar, with over 100 hot air balloons taking off from Ashton Court Estate at dawn and dusk, and lighting up the sky at night with evening balloon glows.

Featuring four days of colourful hot air balloon displays, hundreds of thousands of visitors gather in the rolling hills of Ashton Court Estate, on the outskirts of Bristol to watch the balloons of all shapes and sizes lift off over the city.

As well as the balloon ascents there is entertainment for all the family, throughout the day including aerial displays, children’s activities and entertainment, fairground rides, delicious food stalls and bars, balloon tethering and demonstrations, model aircraft displays and a local music stage.

Watch amazing hot air balloon ascents up close

Visit the fiesta on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings at 6am for ‘Breakfast and Balloons’ and watch the balloons take to the sky as the sun rises while enjoying a breakfast picnic. The balloons then take to the skies again in the evening mass ascents at 6pm and visitors are encouraged to arrive early to get a good viewing spot.

For those looking to witness something out of the ordinary, the Special Shapes ascent on the Thursday evening offers a great opportunity to take a peek at the special shaped balloons, which could take the form of anything from lions to Minions and even flying castles.

Nightglow and Fireworks Finales

Once darkness falls visitors to the event can witness the spectacular night glow, when 30 hot air balloons tether and light up in sequence to music, like giant light bulbs. The Nightglows take place on Thursday 10th August and Saturday 12th August at approximately 9.15pm. Following the performance the skies light up over Ashton Court Estate with a spectacular fireworks.

For visitors planning on driving to the event, car parking will only be available in advance and runs on a tiered system, so the earlier you book the cheaper the price.

To book car parking tickets please visit http://www.bristolballoonfiesta.co.uk or to find out more about this year’s event follow @BristolBalloon on Instagram and Twitter, or https://www.facebook.com/bristolinternationalballoonfiesta.

The key part of the experience is what’s going on outside the tent. Under giant shelters, the campfire burns, the kettle’s on, camp blankets and hot drinks are available for everyone and above it all: the stars!

At just £60 per adult for a weekend ticket (3 days/nights) with children going FREE, this offers fantastic festival value for money. For more information visit www.streatpr.co.uk.

Balaton Sound with Hunfest.co.uk This Summer

Balaton Sound is said to be the best European Beach Music Festival, set in a breath-taking location on the shores of Lake Balaton in Hungary, the festival presents a high-class line-up of the finest electronic music out there, with the likes of Tiesto, KYGO, HardwellAfrojack or Jason Derulo already confirmed this year.

I’ve been attending the festival every year since 2011, as for me this is the perfect holiday” – told us Peter, one of the masterminds behind Hunfest.co.uk, the new tour company specialising in the Balaton Sound Festival -. Chilling by the beach all day, swimming, listening to the music and attending cool programs, while partying all night with the best DJ in the world! The idea to organise tours came a few years ago, when we didn’t book the accommodation on time, and had to realise that it`s impossible to get anything near the festival after February, or it will cost an arm and a leg. We decided to book festival passes and accommodation in advance, what we can offer at an affordable price. It proved successful, and this year we extended it to the UK market as well.
Our hassle-free package feature not only tickets and accommodation, but also flights, transfers and more to take care of the entire trip, all without our clients having to pay more for the privilege – so they can just enjoy themselvesThis Hungarian festival is anyway a popular destination for young adults from all over Europe, as here you get the best value for your money. In which other festival can you see David Guetta and get a pint for less than £2?!

This year we offer extra 2 nights stay after the festival included in the price to recover before heading back home, what they can spend to discover a bit what Hungary can offer, or just to work a bit more on their tan. As an addition, our local tour guides will be always around in case they need anything or are seeking for any helpThis service is not only useful, but maybe convinces the parents as well that their kids are not totally alone in a week long madness.

Craft Beer 1

Edinburgh Beer Enthusiasts Launch New Craft Beer Revolution Festival

Beer-loving friends Richard Servranckx and Dan Quille, both from Leith in Edinburgh, plan to share their passion for quality brews and revolutionise the Scottish beer scene with a new ‘Craft Beer Revolution Festival’ at Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh 24th to 26th November 2016.

Dan said… ‘I recently visited America and was blown away by how popular craft beer was there. Here is Edinburgh it’s still the norm to go into a bar and order a pint of one of the big brands, so we decided to put our love of micro-brewed beer to good use and organise a festival that will introduce people to the amazing range of craft beers that are produced here on our doorstep and support the craft beer industry.

The three-day festival will be held at Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh (24-26th November) and showcase craft beers from 13 of the best breweries from Scotland, the UK and Europe including Edinburgh based breweries Pilot and Top Out, Glasgow based Up Front, Panda Frog Project from Newcastle, London based Howling Hops and Parisis from Paris (see full list of breweries in Editors Notes below). Arbikie Gin and Vodka and wines from Vino will also be available for those who wish to enjoy the festival with a different tipple.

Over 60 beers will be on offer in the Beer Hall, from pale ales to hoppy 10% brews, appealing to both beer connoisseurs and novices who can try new flavours, meet the brewers and discover a new favourite beer. A Craft Beer Revolution beer will also be available – a slightly spicy double red rye IPA – brewed in collaboration with Edinburgh based microbrewery Ushers, and festivalgoers can vote for their favourite beer to win the ‘Craft Beer Revolution Beer of the Year’ award.

To accompany the steady stream of beer, street food is served-up by Scoff, The Buffalo Truck and Glasgow’s popular Babu Bombay Street Kitchen, and Cleaver & Keg Charcuterie Trollies will meander around the festival offering cured meats to pair with the beers available.

As well as a Craft Beer Revolution branded glass to drink from at the festival and take home, tastings and masterclasses from the breweries involved are also included with tickets. Entertainment takes the form of a playlist complied from songs festivalgoers request online before the festival, daily pub quizzes, Beer-Drinking Relay Races and much more.

Richard added… ‘We’ve been working hard over the last 6 months to produce Craft Beer Revolution Festival and can’t wait to share it with our visitors. We are thrilled to be working with all the breweries taking part and honoured to support Brewgooder as our charity partner and support their #DrinkBeerGiveWater campaign that provides clean water to over one million people.

Top tips for Festival newbies

Don’t over pack – before the festival it always seems like a great idea to take everything but the kitchen sink but try to refrain from packing all your home comforts – you’ll be lugging your backpack around for hours so give your shoulders a rest and only take the bare minimum

Don’t take valuables – leave your gadgets at home. With the exception of your phone and wallet, don’t take anything you wouldn’t want to lose or get damaged

Pack these essentials – take wet wipes (these will be your own portable shower), sun cream, a waterproof jacket, wellies, antibacterial gel (this will be your soap) and toilet roll

Take cereal bars – and lots of them! They’re a low effort breakfast or great as a snack whenever you’re low on energy. Otherwise try to pack as little food as possible, you’ll find you’ll throw most of it away

It’ll probably rain – your nice shoes will get ruined so take wellies or boots. Plastic bags, bin bags or sealable sandwich bags are a great way to keep things dry

An extra layer, keep it dry – it gets cold at night so take a warm jumper or hoody and keep it in the driest place you can find. When it’s cold and wet you’ll really appreciate it

Hide some money – spread your money around a bit. In case your wallet flies out of your pocket when you’re going crazy in the dance tent, tuck some money into another pocket, your shoe or even your underwear – just make sure you remember it’s there when you go to the loo!

Tent pitching – don’t camp near to the toilets or too close to the path. Before you leave your tent make sure you take note of any landmarks nearby, when you come back you’ll find there’ll be a load of new tents that pop up out of nowhere and it’s especially difficult to find your tent in the dark, especially after a few drinks. Take a torch if you don’t have a flashlight on your phone

Stock up on water on the first day – once you’ve set up your tent, venture out and buy the biggest bottle of water you can find/carry. You’ll appreciate not having to trek for miles if the sun comes out one hungover morning when your mouth is as dry as a desert

Experience everything – check out the biggest acts on the main stage as well as some you’ve never heard of before. Fill in the gaps between bands by making friends and sharing photos on JiveMap. JiveMap is a location based social network allowing you to share and engage with everyone around you at the festival, share your festival photos and also keep in touch with friends. Just make sure you download the free app before heading to the festival to save that mobile data
